Lack of Salary Knowledge is Major Complaint of Job Seekers, Says ITS
"It's tough to negotiate for more money when you don't know the salary structure the employer uses." "Often general salary guidelines don't apply to a specific job in a specific company in a specific region, so you're at the employer's mercy in terms of what they offer you." These and similar complaints on salary and negotiations are heard frequently by ITS.
Thousands of job seekers visit our websites each month, many of them to take advantage of the free services they can get there, including free resume analysis and a comparison of how they stack up to their competition in more than 200 different characteristics. In the course of helping them, ITS routinely asks them what their biggest complaints are about job seeking in general.
Bob Schrier, Managing Director of ITS in San Diego, noted that this common complaint by job seekers helped spur the development of specialized techniques aimed at leveling the playing field when people negotiate for more money. "Not only that," he said, "but we also get a continuing flow of fresh information on what employers in different regions and industries are offering to candidates in specific functions.
"That's why we take the initiative to guide our clients in negotiations, once an offer has been made. Too many people think their options are limited, or that they can't negotiate, because the employer might take offense. Not so. With the right techniques and specific knowledge, our clients regularly increase the original offer significantly."
ITS services address all of these issues for clients we serve.
